Turf Moor
Turf Moor is a football stadium in Burnley, Lancashire. It is the home ground of Burnley Football Club, who have played there since moving from their Calder Vale ground in 1883. The stadium, which is situated on Harry Potts Way in Burnley, has a capacity of 22,546, all seated. It is one of the last stadiums in England to have the players' tunnel and dressing rooms behind a goal. Originally consisting of just a pitch, the first grandstand was built in 1885. Six years after this, the "Stars" stand was erected and terracing was later added to the ends of the ground. After the Second World War, the stadium was redeveloped with all four stands being rebuilt. During the 1990s, the ground underwent further refurbishment when the Longside and Bee Hole End terraces were replaced by all-seater stands. Currently, the four stands at Turf Moor are the James Hargreaves Stand, the Jimmy McIlroy Stand, the Bob Lord Stand and the Cricket Field Stand. Burnley Burnley is a large market town in the borough of Burnley in Lancashire, England, with a population of around 73,500. It lies 11 miles (18 km) east of Blackburn and 25 miles (40 km) east of Preston, at the confluence of the River Calder and River Brun. It began life in the early medieval period as a small market town, but its main period of expansion came during the Industrial Revolution, when it became one of the world's largest producers of cotton cloth. Today, Burnley has lost much of its industry, and is increasingly a dormitory town for Manchester, Leeds and the M65 corridor[2]. The public sector is now the town's largest employer[citation needed]. Information by Wikipedia.com
